mdf & mds files

Postby Magyk on Sat May 05, 2012 10:30 am

So, I'm trying to install something using mds and mdf files. Nothing works.

Here is a list of things I've tried:

-Joining the mdf files
I tried using a program called HJSplit, it seems to load the files properly but when it says "Process Completed" there is no final product to speak of.

-Mounting the mds files (Tried both daemon and alcohol 120%)
Lots of people on the interwebs said that the mds acts as a table of contents for mdf files, and that when I mount it it'd run like a normal ISO. When I mount it though, I just get "File not accessible." (At which point people suggested converting it into an iso.. see next step)

-Using magicISO to convert mdf to an iso
All this does is turn everything into an ISO with mdf files inside it. So, when I go to mount the iso it just comes up as "View files & folders" instead of autorun.

Manually extracting via winrar
This only works for Filename.mdf.001 (not mdf.002, mdf.003, etc) so all the files are incomplete when I extract them.

The size of the files is right where they should be, suggesting that they are not corrupted in any way.

I used these files to install this once, but I'm absolutely baffled about how I accomplished this end.

..Anyone?

Those files must be shity, lol.
I yews old version of daemon and can mount .mds files without problem.
I don't exactly know what is the purpose of .mdf files, but apparently, they are required by the .mds files for them to work.
Try reinstalling daemon/Alcohol 120%?

What version of DT do you yews? I tried to reinstall 3.47, which is usually a really reliable version but it's incompatible with Win7.

Damn, I thought that might actually work because it wasn't checked.. but it still comes up as file not accessible.

I'm using version 4.11.1 , Daemon Tools Lite

When you install it, after finishing it ask you for what type of files will the program yews.
Taking into account that you have W7, I cannot help you beyond this, since I HATE W7 (Never could play a game, but I believe that's just my neanderthal head smashing the monitor)
