I need help
Is it possible that an ANCIENT,and I do mean ANCIENT game not work on Win XP under tri-core proccessor?
If it IS,how is it possible that the original game runs smoothly,while the expansion fucks up?
I'm talking about Red Alert 2 and Yuris Revenge.
I installed both,and RA2 works 100% on a widescreen display under tri-core proccessor
FUcking YuriR crashes with "Main Executable for YR has encountered an error and needs to close.Pls report this to MC..."bla bla shit
I attached the error report TXT so if you can make any sense out of it,I'd be grateful.

I know this isnt related to JA in any way,but if theres a jan that can help me,I'd be thrilled.

it would involve the game using an "ancient" version of directx and/or opengl... but even then video cards are almost always backwards compatible :s

what video card do you have? that is another relevant piece of information. it might not be necessarily dependent on what OS you're running...

I run RA2 all the time on WinXP, and Yuri's revenge too.

I don't know what would cause that - so I'll go with a generic "try reinstalling" and "update your graphics card drivers"

my dad,a programmer,and a very well experienced person when it comes to PC's crashing,fucking,etc,etc...He has a saying:"When it comes to computers and computers issues,when in doubt,first try the VERY LAST THING that comes onto your mind,and you will have fixed your issue without a sweat.People,including me,of course,never do that at first."

All it took was changing the Main Executable file for Yuri's Revenge to run in COMPATIBILITY mode for Win98/ME

I laughed so hardly,my stomach was hurting while the bloody game was loading

P.S. My DX is 9.0c and graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 4350 just as a FYI

Some older games (particularly DOS games) can be screwed up by the speed of newer CPUs because the game was designed for the clocks of a 486 or whatever. An emulator or virual machine of some kind can help these situations.

Don't even get me started on how much I fucking hate Halo and it's legions of mindless retarded FPS fans.

I'm not saying Halo is a BAD game, it's just VERY FUCKING FAR from being ANYWHERE close to as good as people say it is. 6\10 rating at the most, it's the most generic and unoriginal scifi i've ever played and it isn't fun at all.

Yeah RA2 is easily my favorite strategy game.
I have RA1 lying around here somewhere too, and I *cough* "Got" RA3, but I didn't like it nearly as much as RA2. (I don't really like strat games with 3d gameplay.
